Advice I wish I had been given:
I went to high school in the midwest in America.
While it's not exactly like the movies, cliques do exist, and especially as a freshman, high school can be quite intimidating!
But don't be afraid of talking to new people and making new friends. I was very shy in high school and looking back I wish I had gotten to know my classmates better.
The popular people and the jocks do tend to hang out together, as well as the stoners, the nerds, and where you sit in the cafeteria can define how people label you.
This can feel very isolating, especially if you feel like you don't fit into any of those groups, but you never know who you could end up becoming friends with.
Don't judge people by labels!
People can be very different once you get to know them. Try not to constrain yourself within those labels and go out of your way to get to know people.
