- Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) in Mean Girls
If I had a message for my younger self it would be to BELIEVE, have self love and see the beauty in being different from my peers.
I never wanted to have long hair, wear skirts or dresses, I didn't think like majority of my age mates, I was taller than most of the boys and girls and just didn't fit the popular standard of "pretty".
If i knew what i do now, i would have embraced all these differences, known that beauty comes in all forms & felt no pressure to just conform. After all, the things people would formerly mock me about they now praise & are inspired by! Yet the only thing that changed is my confidence and mindset.
I feel like we compare ourselves to others a lot, teenagers lately may have it worse as social media is a bigger influence than ever, theres so many ideas of beauty thrown at us, even bullying on social media and all sorts that can make you question yourself.
My advice is firstly acceptance, self love and confidence. Having a positive mindset regardless & not falling into the pressure of conforming. once you truly accept and embrace, confidence and positivity can bring many opportunities.
I really love the quote " The limit does not exist" from Mean Girls because it says it all. There is always room for growth. We may feel very limited maybe because of self esteem issues or coming from a tough upbringing & different Life situations. Though I believe it all starts with a mental decision, the really is no limit to how far you can go. The biggest come back you can give to any obstacle is sustaining a positive mindset and still pushing, because that way it is not the end. You reduce the value of that hinderance to almost nothing & keep winning !
